About Lauren
Lauren Hayward has worked in mental health since 2009, and exclusively with young people since 2015. She began in a psychiatric hospital and the probation service, and has been a high school counsellor since 2014, spending more than eight thousand hours in the room with eleven to eighteen year olds. She still counsels part time at a Bradford high school, where she has been for five years.
Her approach is relational and integrative, which in plain terms means she does not arrive with a fixed method and fit the young person to it. Some people want to talk. Some find it easier through sand tray or play. Both are entirely normal.

Common questions
Are you taking new clients?
Yes. We are open at Wharf St. Practice, First Floor, 3-5 Wharf Street, Shipley, West Yorkshire, BD17 7DW. Call Lauren on 07940 039229 or leave your details below and we will call you back.
What ages do you work with?
Roughly eleven to twenty five. Age is a guide rather than a rule. If your child is a little younger or older, get in touch and we will tell you honestly whether we can help or point you somewhere better suited.
Do we need a GP referral or a diagnosis?
No. You can contact us directly, with no diagnosis and no referral. We also accept referrals from GPs, schools, colleges and other services.
Is what my child says kept private from me?
Yes, and that privacy is part of what makes the work possible. The content of sessions is confidential to the young person. The exception, explained to them at the start, is that if there is a serious risk of harm we have a duty to act on it. You will be kept informed about the practical shape of the work, such as attendance and general progress.
What does it cost?
Please call and we will tell you the fee straight away. If cost is a barrier, say so and we will be honest with you about what is possible.
What should we do if this is urgent?
We are not a crisis service. If a young person is in immediate danger, call 999. For urgent mental health support, call NHS 111 and select the mental health option, which is available at any hour. Samaritans can be reached free on 116 123.
Prefer us to call you?
Leave your details and Lauren will call you back. If you would rather speak to someone now, call 07940 039229.
